Boss Moanaroa is one of the more unique prospects in the Red Sox system. He and his brother, Moko, are natives of Newcastle, Australia where they both starred in High School and received scholarships shortly thereafter.
Boss is a strong and stocky first baseman with lots of raw power potential. His ceiling is yet to be determined, but he has all of the tools in the world to be a potential 30 homer bat. A surprisingly good athlete for his size, Boss plays fairly well with the glove, especially since he's only been playing baseball for a few years now.
He has lots of bat speed but swings a bit uppercut and it's long. However, he has great plate coverage and hits the ball to all fields. As you can imagine, only being nineteen years of age and still getting acclimated to a new style of play and a new country to say the least, he's got a long way to go but has all the potential built in to his think and powerful frame and the Sox definitely think highly of him.
Having spent timein Extended Spring Training as of recent, Boss Moanaroa looks to make his way to the New York Penn League come June.
